The short version
Ligature has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. The app does not collect, store or share any of your data. Everything it works with stays on your devices and in accounts you already control.
Reminders and calendars
With your permission, Ligature reads and writes your reminders through Apple’s EventKit. They sync through your own iCloud account, exactly as they do in Apple’s Reminders app. On the Mac, the Schedule action asks for write-only calendar access so it can add an event to your calendar; it cannot read your existing events. You can revoke either permission at any time in Settings (iPhone) or System Settings (Mac).
Notes and photos
Notes are plain Markdown files in a folder you choose. Photos you attach are saved as ordinary image files in that same folder. Ligature only accesses the folder you pick, and the files sync however you already sync that folder (for example, iCloud Drive or Obsidian Sync).
Settings sync
Your Today sections and action catalog sync between your devices through Apple’s iCloud key-value storage, tied to your own Apple Account. Other preferences, such as your theme and where you left off in the reader, are stored only on the device.
Actions and links
When you use an action, such as searching the web, asking an AI assistant, opening Maps, or filing an issue in Linear or Jira, Ligature opens a link to that service with the reminder’s text in it. From that point, the service’s own privacy policy applies. Ligature never sends anything to a service unless you choose an action. Pages you open in the built-in reader are loaded directly from the website you are visiting.
This website
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not use cookies or track you across other sites.
Children
Ligature does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
